Programs within the College of Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences at North Carolina A&T State University are accredited by national accrediting agencies, including those listed below.

A&T’s Department of Journalism and Mass Communication is accredited by the Accrediting Council on Education in Journalism and Mass Communication (ACEJMC), an honor achieved by only one other school in the University of North Carolina system, UNC Chapel Hill.

A&T’s program is one of three accredited journalism and mass communication programs in North Carolina - N.C. A&T, Elon, and UNC Chapel Hill, and is one of only seven accredited programs at the nation’s HBCUs, and 118 programs globally.

The Theater Arts Program in Acting and Theater Technology, located within the Department of Visual and Performing Arts, has been accredited by the National Association of Schools of Theatre (NAST) since 1981, and is one of the oldest accredited theater programs among the nation’s HBCUs.  

The Music Program, located within the Department of Visual and Performing Arts, has been accredited by the National Association of Schools of Music (NASM) since 1991, and is one of the oldest music programs among the nation’s HBCUs.
